Masonville is a community unincorporated in Larimer County, Colorado. It’s located at the foothills the Rocky Mountains. The community offers mountain living at its best, with easy access to the urban amenities of the Front Range. Redstone Canyon lies directly behind Horsetooth Mountain. It was established as a residential community in late 1960s, when several ranches were subdivided and sold into lots of 40 acres. The 6,800-acre canyon is home to 85 homes. Its signature red rock cliffs are found around the area. Redstone Canyon Association (RCA), which was established in 1979, serves both as a resource and oversees the maintenance of access roads. Buckhorn Estates and Buckskin Heights are also popular areas. Wild Valley North is another area.

Masonville is close to Colorado’s front range, where most residents commute to work. Larimer County’s unemployment rate is 3.7%. This is less than the national average. You don’t have to spend a whole day walking through parks and trails. Instead, enjoy a day at local shopping malls and attractions.

Masonville is served by Thompson R2-J School District. The high-ranking Thompson School District in Colorado is the reason that students take ACT exams which are higher than the state average. This determines their eligibility for college. Aims Community College in Loveland and Regis University in Colorado offer higher education. There are also larger universities such as Colorado State University or University of Colorado in nearby cities.

There was an 1890s gold rush in Buckhorn canyon. A (very small) discovery of gold ore led to speculation. James R. Mason laid out Masonville to house the influx of people he knew would come. The Masonville Mercantile is currently the only structure that still exists in this eagerly planned community.
